NOVEMBER Newsletter:

        
This past month we focused on lessons surrounding opposites, rhyming, ordinal numbers, associations, sequencing and size concepts, just to name a few. We filled the days with academics, sensory and art lessons!  The kids really seemed to enjoy the themes as they were incorporated into the curriculum. 

 The Field Trip to Country Days Corn Maze was a huge success! Everyone had a great time. The “orange lunch” was wonderful, thank you to all those who participated and sent in items.

This month we will have a Feast to celebrate Thanksgiving.  More details to follow, soon!

Our November themes are the Farm/ Harvest, Turkeys and Thanksgiving!

Things To Do At Home

      Incorporate your child into family traditions. For example, if you bake a pie for Thanksgiving, have your child help roll out the dough.  Its great sensory input and you could help them learn the sequence for how to bake a pie.

      Even if your child is not reading yet, reading to them, talking about the characters, setting and action of the story will help them formulate concepts about stories. Don’t forget to ask questions! So be RED: read every day!

      If you get homework, please be sure to send it in so we can monitor progress.

October Newsletter

 

 

 

The first month of school was a great success!  We are now finishing up with our “All About Apples” theme and will move onto our “Fall” theme.  We have been incorporating the themes into our every day academic and language groups.  Ms. Sharon has also followed our theme in her OT sessions! The learning concepts that we have been focusing on are following directions, descriptions, classification and sequencing as well as the core concepts of colors, numbers, counting, letters, phonics and sight words.

We are gearing up for our field trip to the corn  maze (be sure to get your permission slip in!) and are excited about our “Orange Lunch” that will take place at the end of the month (details to follow).

Our October themes are Fall, Leaves, Pumpkins and Halloween!

Things To Do At Home:

      We have been exploring with different sensory items and textures: shaving cream, beans, rice and nuts. You can continue to do this as well at home!

      Use the communication sheets to talk to students about how well they are doing or things that they can work on for the next day.

 ü  It is starting to get cooler, so you may want to send in alternative extra clothes.  Please be sure to label clothing and jackets J

We hope you all had a great summer!  We are looking forward to an exciting school year.  This month our themes will be “Back to School” and “All About Me”.  We will end the month with starting our theme of “Apples”. We will be working on colors, identifying/ forming numbers and letters, sorting, sequencing skills, and patterns.

Things To Do At Home

      Review work that comes home and talk to your child about what they did each day.

      Practice drawing shapes. You can use crayons, sand or even shaving cream!

      Help your child identify colors, even in their community or the grocery store J

      Label different sizes in every day activities or occurrences, i.e. “Look at the Big dog next to the Little dog!”

      Anytime you can incorporate our theme into your conversations with your child, it is more exposure to the vocabulary we are using at school.
