What's sweeter than apple pie?

How about caramel apples?  

To end this week's apple theme, the kids had a "candy apple" Fun Friday.

They got to dip their own little apples into chocolate or caramel sauce

 and then into different toppings, like sprinkles.

 As you can see from these smiling faces, these apples were a big hit!

All about apples.

One of this month's theme is "All about apples."

The students have been practicing their apple poem and songs.

They have read about Johnny Appleseed, and discovered what's

in an orchard, and learned what an apple tree needs to grow.

The kindergarten class made paper plate apple trees

with "heart" apples hanging from the branches.

The students have done several sensory apple art crafts:

ripping paper to make pretty apple collages, or rolling playdoh to make apples.

This sweet girl is learning about big and small using apple cutouts.

And who can forget caramel apples?  How fun!

Pizza Night: Jump into Learning.

ABC School had it's first Family Night, and it was so much fun! 

Besides munching on tasty pizza, the teachers talked about activities that

parents/caregivers can do with their students at home to enhance what they are learning at school.

The teachers recommend that parents should go over the worksheets

the kids do during the school day to practice the concepts. 

Also, parents can practice reading skills at home or anywhere -

read road signs, box labels at the grocery store, menus, etc.

The teachers talked about OT (occupational therapy) work. 

Parents should encourage their students to move and groove -

 bear crawl to bed or jump to the dinner table.

And as always, families should have FUN with their kids,

because the teachers love having fun with their students!
