In December, we focused on Christmas symbols for our theme. It is truly priceless seeing the excitement, joy and happiness with the children during this month.
They had so much fun decorating the Christmas tree for the school.
Field Trip
One day, the 1st/2nd graders enjoyed a field trip to a restaurant for lunch. They worked on table manners, ordering food and using appropriate social skills while in a restaurant. It was fun!!
OT Time
Ms. Carson had the children sit in a 'sleigh' and ride around the gym. Santa drove the sleigh with the help of his Reindeer!

Christmas Symbols
1. Wants vs. Needs
It's always a good time to talk about the difference between wants and needs during Christmas time. We set up 2 hula-hoops and defined one as Wants and one as Needs. The children would pick up an object and place in the correct circle.
2. Holidays Around the World
This was our favorite Science Day! The children picked up their boarding ticket and hopped aboard the ABC Airlines. We traveled to 4 countries: Mexico, Germany, Italy and back to the USA. Each child was given a suitcase to take with them. While visiting the country, the children learned about how that country spends their Holidays and made an ornament to remember it by.

The children matched objects together that symbolize Christmas in the US.
Fruit Snowman
We made a Snowman out of a banana, marshmallows, a strawberry, miniature chocolate chips and a M&M.
Sandwich Reindeer
We made a Reindeer out of bread, jelly, pretzels, raisins, and a red hot.
On the last day of school, before Holiday break, the parents came to hear the children sing Holiday songs. It was amazing!!!
Afterwards, we split into two groups. One group, the children decorated cookies with their parents and the second, they made a craft.
