Groundhog Day

The children learned about the adorable little creature called an Groundhog and how he can predict our future weather.

We also celebrated the upcoming Super Bowl game with our home team, The Carolina Panthers!

Valentine's Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day by exchanging cards and a Red Lunch!

We had a nice little surprise in the middle of the day with snow!!
Red Lunch

Our parents pamper us and make us feel so appreciated and LOVED!!
Thank You!!!

Science Themes for the month consisted of:
  • Shadows
  • Magnets
  • Nutrition
  • Dental Health
Shadows
We leaned how the groundhog sees his shadow by three sources: light, object and something for the light to bounce off of.  The children enjoyed making shadows with a flashlight, toys and a box.

Magnets

Nutrition
First, the children sorted different types of food onto a large food plate.

Then, the children made their own food plate by gluing on grains, fruits, vegetables, protein and dairy.

Dental
First, the students sorted how to have Healthy Teeth and Unhealthy Teeth.

Then, the children investigated what different types of liquids would do to your teeth.

Ms. Sheila, from Pediatric Dentistry came to visit the children and brought a special friend.
Brian - The Bear
Brian was very upset because his tooth hurt.  After Ms. Sheila looked at it, he discovered that he just had a loose tooth.  Several children let Ms. Sheila look at their teeth too!

With all the excitement of the Super Bowl, we decided to make a football for Fun Food Friday.

Everyone loves Pizza!!
The children had so much fun making their own little pizza on an English Muffin.

For dental health, the children made a little mouth out of red peppers and cheese.
